Here at Kids Just Recycle, we have come up with some easy recycling ideas for schools that can raise awareness and money in all kinds of education settings and age stages.
Starting out simple with the young pupils is an exciting and practical learning experience watching how one material can be changed and reused just through an easy-peasy method such as reusing paper! Simply mix the used paper with water to remove the ink – this turns the paper into pulp, which can be squashed, dried, and made into new sheets of recycled paper.
Older children who are growing fans of green activist ‘Greta’ may want to make more of a noise and take active responsibility to understand recycling better and make positive change. By taking on a recycling audit of your school you can analyse the waste of paper, water and food and create a plan to tackle and measure your progress.
Another way is through textiles recycling where you can earn money for your school through our ‘Kids Fill The Bag’ scheme! All you have to do is collect 40 bin bags full of pre-loved clothes, paired/tied shoes and household textiles and your school could earn a whopping £500 per tonne! We will pay you 50p per kilo for all reusable donations we collect from you.
By simply filling up your bin bags full of out-grown and unwanted garments, unclaimed lost property items, or clothing cleared out from your wardrobes and cupboards at home, you can get a cash sum paid directly to your school!
