- Recommend us to another school, village hall, community centre or any other organisation that could benefit from earning extra income from installing one of our bins and we will pay you a one-off payment of £100.
- We also offer collections direct from parents’ houses so if they have over 5 black bin liners filled with reusable textiles, please give them our phone number. They must mention the name of your school so we can add the weight to your account to get you paid.
A: YES! We can work around your school availability.
A: It doesn’t. We have our own insurance for the textile bins.
- We will pay 40p per kilo for any reusable donations we collect from your Kids Just Recycle clothing bin throughout the year; this means you could be paid up to £400 for every reusable tonne collected.
- Alternatively, if you don’t feel you can collect as much as one tonne throughout the year, we will pay a one-time-only, up-front payment of £250 for your reusable donations. This £250 payment is only paid once a year and cannot be increased.
All payments are made via BACS and every time we empty your bin it is fully recorded. We will pay you once your account reaches £100 minimum payout. What we do find is that many schools let the amount build up so they can receive a large payout which helps with buying something substantial. This has to be requested and a pre-arranged payment date set. All you have to do is email us and let us do the rest.
A: No, it’s completely free! We even take care of the design and branding for you.
A: Yes, we strongly encourage regular collections allowing you and us to keep a clean environment in the installed location.
One of our uniformed, ID-wearing team will have keys to your bin and will empty the contents of your bin into a large industrial canvas bag with a rough weight that would be double checked and confirmed once back at the warehouse. The only exception to this is if the van is empty and coming straight back to us or if we have come from a prison. Each bag is marked with your school’s unique number along with the number of bags collected and this is fully verified. We can only pay for reusable clothes and any second-grade clothing will be offered to third world countries for free. This also applies to school wear.
All Grade B clothing and school wear would go further afield to our partners in Africa, Ghana, Cameroon and The Ivory Coast and may be over-washed, slightly misshapen or have small marks on. Any bedding that is donated also gets a second lease of life by being used as dust sheets for painting garages and shops or cut up for rags in car washes – so a massive 85% gets a second use.
Closer to home and here in the UK, all new underwear including new socks are given to our charity partner, Hands On London, whose volunteers distribute these to our vulnerable homeless people on the streets of London. Similarly, any sleeping bags are donated to our homeless charities and we have recently donated a generous supply to The Spitalfields Crypt Trust.
We quite often receive new balls of knitting wool which we pass on to our ladies at The Samaritans who in turn pass on, free of charge, to other knitting enthusiasts who make soft toys for children and donate them to paediatric hospitals and children’s charities; nothing is wasted.
A: Yes, by sitting a textile bank in a prominent position it will encourage people of your local community to recycle their textiles in an environmentally friendly way and reduce landfill.
A: Any dry textiles can be put into any of our textile recycling bins, but not all would be paid at our ton rate. Items that are not paid for would be sent to third world countries free of charge, so you can be assured that nothing will be filling our landfill sites.
A: Yes, this can be done direct by you or us with your written permission.
A: Absolutely not. All we ask is for one month’s notice to arrange a collection of your textile bank.
Kids Just Recycle take the protection of our clients and our company very seriously. To this end, we hold Public Liability Insurance. We are underwritten by Thistle Underwriting Services to the value of £5,000,000.
A: Yes, we do accept school uniforms and other school wear but these items will NOT count towards your collection total. However, we do have a sister website where you can donate school uniforms FREE of charge to help families who need support. Please see www.freeuniforms4kids.co.uk
A: Unfortunately, no. Under the terms and conditions of our business insurance we must be the only keyholders to help reduce the risk of losing keys and more importantly, preventing accidents such as trapped fingers. We take the health and safety of our staff and clients very seriously. Even if you are willing to sign a disclaimer, we would not be able to supply you with a key.
School wear has little resale value in the textiles industry and this is because it is massed produced and manufactured for high volume and with less focus on quality. We have many countries that we are supporting by way of free school wear by supplying t-shirts, shirts, trousers and dresses. Blazers are destroyed by way of shredding and the fibres are used again to make new garments as we are fully committed to recycling textiles.
Yes. If you have a larger textile recycling bin from us, we can supply a school uniform bin. They are far smaller than the main clothes bin and we will supply a school uniform bin to you for free. You will have your own set of keys and you are fully responsible for maintaining and emptying it; we always suggest that you take out the good items and put the items that are over-worn into the main clothes bin for us.
Yes, you can. As well as school clothing and shoes, we will even take plastic water bottles and lunchboxes. We can send these items to poor school communities in places life Africa where equipment and funds are scarce.
