teaching children about recycling

Teaching school children about recycling has never been more important

You can easily help to raise awareness and raise funds too!

Teaching school children about recycling has never been more important, especially the primary age children who absorb information so easily from a young age. We need to teach them now about how they can save our planet in the future. As they grow up they can take ownership and responsibility once they truly understand the importance of recycling and what difference it can make to the environment.

By installing a recycled clothing bin in your school, you can donate all of your pre-loved clothes, tied or paired shoes or household fabrics such as towels, curtains, pillowcases and duvet covers and receive a cash payment of £400 per tonne for everything we can reuse. If you don’t have the space for a FREE branded bin, you can join our Kids Fill The Bag scheme and earn £500 per tonne, by filling a minimum of 40 refuse bags of textiles for us to collect on a pre-arranged date. We even have a new resources page available on our website so you can easily download A4 posters to help with your textile donation efforts and make your local community aware of your campaigns.

Here at Kids Just Recycle, we are really pleased to announce that we are now able to increase what we pay you too! Market price has gone up so we can now pay you an increased rate per kilo – from 35p to 40p! We ensure that everything we collect from you is carefully sorted and sent to people in the UK and overseas who desperately need these items. It’s also a great way to give them a second lease of life and more importantly keep them out of landfill.

Did you know:

  • The 3 arrows in the green recycling logo represent the three ‘R’s which stands for Reduce Reuse Recycle?
  • 12% of all our clothes and shoes end up in UK landfill sites
  • You could fill Wembley Stadium in just ONE year, with all our wasted clothing?
  • Over half of the textiles that end up in UK landfill sites could easily be recycled?
  • At school you can start working on recycling items such as:
    • Paper (where paper is collected separately from card)
    • Card (where card is collected separately from paper)
    • Mixed paper and card
    • Metal packaging
    • Glass bottles
    • Plastic bottles
    • Mixed plastics (plastic bottles and plastic pots, tubs and trays)
    • Plastic film
    • Food and drink cartons
    • Food waste
    • Garden waste
    • Textiles, clothing and shoes

Here at Kids Just Recycle, our friendly and helpful team will provide you with a FREE personalised branded bin – all you have to do is send us your digital files of your logo/artwork and school strapline and leave the rest to us! We will regularly empty, clean and maintain your clothing bin and its surrounding area, so you don’t need to worry about any mess – just keep on collecting and earning!

What better way  to start Teaching school children about recycling and learn about the benefits of recycling while you receive much-needed funds. Happy recycling!
