Kids Just Recycle is delighted to announce our sponsorship of Peaceful Place, a remarkable charity dedicated to supporting younger people and retired older adults living with early onset dementia.

Peaceful Place provides a warm, inclusive and empowering environment where individuals in the early to moderate stages of dementia can continue to live fulfilling, meaningful lives.

Through engaging activities, creative programmes and tailored support, members are encouraged to maintain and develop their skills, confidence and independence while being part of a vibrant and caring community. Every activity is designed around personal interests and abilities, ensuring each member enjoys a safe, enriching and uplifting experience.

What your donation could do:

£5 – could contribute towards transport, helping a member access meaningful activities and reduce isolation.

£10 – could provide a freshly prepared dinner for two members, creating opportunities for social connection and enjoyment.

£20 – could help a person take part in one of our sports and wellbeing sessions, supporting physical and cognitive health.

£50 – could fund a music session, helping individuals reconnect through rhythm, memories, and creativity.

£100 – could provide four sporting activities, such as boxercise, swimming, or walking football, promoting confidence, wellbeing, and living life to the fullest.

£200 – could take a group of members on a mystery tour.

Any amount, no matter how small, would make a real difference.

As a special thank you, pupils who make individual donations will receive a personally handwritten card from the charity’s CEO; just provide your name, class and school name and address!

For every school donation made, Kids Just Recycle will match it – so your £5 becomes £10 so Peaceful Place can continue to support individuals with dementia, and their families, to live active, meaningful, and fulfilling lives through activities including sport, music, arts, outings, and family carer support.

Essex Knitters and Stitchers are a thriving and welcoming community of crafters across Essex, united by a shared passion for knitting, crochet, sewing, and other creative crafts. This group is dedicated to bringing people together, supporting local charities, and helping to reduce loneliness and social isolation through friendship, creativity, and shared purpose. Whether you are highly experienced or completely new to crafting, you will always receive a warm welcome.

Founded nine years ago, Essex Knitters and Stitchers began with just a handful of small groups meeting in local libraries. Since then, they have grown into a vibrant network of almost 200 members across 20 groups throughout Essex. Together, members create a wide range of handmade items, from blankets and garments to comfort toys and sensory aids, all designed to support individuals and organisations within our local communities.

Their aims are to:

  • Bring people together through craft, helping to reduce loneliness and isolation
  • Encourage friendship, wellbeing, and mutual support through shared activities
  • Use our skills to create handmade items for charities and community organisations across Essex

They maintain a core stock of donated items throughout the year, including wheelchair blankets, dementia-friendly products such as twiddle cuffs, fidget balls, and marble mazes, as well as children’s comfort items including trauma teddies, worry monsters, and worry worms. These are regularly distributed to charities and organisations such as hospitals, the Alzheimer’s Society, and Kids Inspire.

In addition to their ongoing charitable work, they also undertake a variety of special seasonal and community projects. These include creating handmade goods for the Helen Rollason Cancer Charity Christmas and Vintage Fairs, knitting hats, scarves, shawls, and warm clothing for food banks, producing Easter and Christmas items for Farleigh Hospice to sell, and making hats for farmers in support of the Farming Community Network.

They also enjoy celebrating local and national events through creative community initiatives such as yarn bombing, with past projects marking occasions including The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, The King’s Coronation and the Chelmsford Festival.

Above all, Essex Knitters and Stitchers are all about friendship, creativity, and making a positive difference and are always delighted to welcome new members of all abilities including knitters, crocheters, sewers, and anyone interested in learning a new skill. Hands on London LogoThe WrapUp Mission

Under the umbrella of Hands On London, WrapUp London has now successfully completed its 15th year, firmly establishing itself as one of the capital’s largest and most impactful winter volunteering initiatives. The campaign is a powerful example of what can be achieved when communities unite to support those facing hardship during the coldest months of the year.

At Kids Just Recycle, we are proud to play our part by donating all suitable warm coats collected through our recycled clothing banks. These coats are carefully stored and made available to the WrapUp London team at the time they are needed most, helping to ensure vital support reaches people across the city.

In 2025, an incredible 542 volunteers came together to sort 14,171 warm winter coats, which were distributed to more than 75 frontline charities. Beneficiaries included homelessness organisations, women’s refuges, family centres, and other community support services.

Coat collections took place from 3rd November to 7th December across 95 drop-off locations throughout London, with additional collections held from 4th to 6th November at selected London Underground stations, including King’s Cross, Liverpool Street, Moorgate, Waterloo, and London Bridge. These efforts were further supported by more than 150 volunteer leaflet distributors who helped raise awareness and encourage donations.

Sorting operations ran from 12th November through to 19th December, with coat distribution continuing right up until Christmas to ensure support reached those in urgent need during the festive season.

WrapUp London is made possible by the dedication and generosity of hundreds of volunteers who give their time each winter to collect, transport, sort, and distribute thousands of warm coats. The success of the campaign depends entirely on the commitment of every individual involved.
